INDIANAPOLIS — Toy time at The Salvation Army is in full swing with collections and preparations for distributing thousands of toys to children nationwide. For the second year in a row, Batteries.com, one of the nation’s largest online retailer of batteries, chargers and audio video accessories, is partnering with The Salvation Army’s toy distribution program to provide children in need with the batteries their toys require. The partnership has now grown to a national level.

The Salvation Army’s toy distributions, known in Indianapolis as the Christmas City Toy Shop, are annual events benefiting low-income, working families at Christmas time. Each year, thousands of qualified families are given an appointment to visit a Salvation Army toy distribution. Participants and volunteers work together to make sure children have toys, stocking stuffers, and possibly a gift card for a holiday meal.

Batteries.com customers can donate to this worthy cause by adding one or more packages of Energizer AA or AAA alkaline batteries to their cart. The batteries will then be delivered by Batteries.com to the toy distribution.

The Salvation Army toy programs are made possible through the generosity of donors and businesses in the community. Because of those generous donations, thousands of toys are collected in the months leading up to Christmas and thousands of children spend Christmas morning smiling with their families.
