Salvation Army Volunteers Play Santa’s Helpers This Holiday Season
Kansas City, MO (December 6, 2012) – Santa’s helpers will be busy over the next few weeks, ensuring that thousands of needy families in Kansas City have a joyous holiday season! The Salvation Army, through its eight community centers across the metro area, provide toys for more than 10,000 children and holiday food boxes for 5,000 area families at Christmas-time!

Location: The Salvation Army Independence Community Center

Volunteers will sort and organize thousands of toys donated to The Salvation Army in Independence through the Adopt a Family and Angel Tree programs. The Salvation Army will provide gifts for more than 2,000 children in eastern Jackson County this holiday season.

A group of AT&T Communications Workers of America in Kansas City will deliver more than 600 toys to The Salvation Army. The AT&T Communications Workers group is one of the largest providers of toys for The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program each year!

Location: 3177 Mercier, Kansas City, MO
100 volunteers will assemble 5,000 food boxes to distribute to families who have applied for Christmas assistance from The Salvation Army in the Kansas City metro area. Working in assembly line fashion, the volunteers will bag 22 tons of potatoes, sort food items, and build and fill 5,000 boxes with all the fixings for a holiday meal, plus staples such as flour, sugar and peanut butter.
