Salvation Army Invites Community to Free Christmas Day Dinner
Kansas City, MO – After unwrapping your presents on Christmas morning, join The Salvation Army for a wonderful holiday meal!
The Salvation Army is holding its annual free Community Christmas Day Dinner Tuesday, December 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 101 W. Linwood in Kansas City, Missouri. The meal will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and pie. Around 200 volunteers will assist with the Christmas Day Dinner from set-up to clean-up!
Preparations for the dinner begin this week with the roasting of 125 turkeys, which will then be deboned by a team of volunteers. 24 cases of green beans, 24 gallons of gravy, and 40 pounds of butter also make up the annual dinner!
Also on Christmas Day, nearly 100 Salvation Army volunteers will deliver a traditional holiday meal to 800 homebound and elderly individuals in the metropolitan area. All volunteer assignments for the Christmas Day Dinner and meal delivery are full.
