The Salvation Army will also recognize two of the organization’s major supporters at the 2013 Civic Luncheon. Larry Powell will receive the William Booth Award, one of The Salvation Army’s top honors. Mr. Powell co-founded Fountain Capital Management, LLC. He is a member of The Salvation Army’s Kansas City Metro Advisory Board, serving in various leadership positions including Board Chair. He is a member of the Baylor University Foundation Board and also serves on the board of the National Christian Foundation Heartland.
KCP&L will receive the Others Award, which is bestowed on individuals or organizations exemplifying extraordinary service to others. KCP&L has a very strong Corporate Contributions Program, donating to numerous causes financially and through employee volunteerism. KCP&L also partners directly with The Salvation Army through its Economic Relief Program to help Missouri customers in need of help paying their electric bills.
The Salvation Army has been helping people in need in Kansas City for more than 125 years through a broad array of social services including food for the hungry, clothing and shelter for the homeless, outreach to the elderly and ill and opportunities for underprivileged children.
