SAVE THANKSGIVING: TURKEY DRIVE TO HELP SALVATION ARMY OF GREATER KANSAS CITY
Alice 102.1 FM and Blue Bell Ice Cream team up with Price Chopper in Olathe for a one-day turkey drive to assist needy families throughout the metro this Thanksgiving
OLATHE, Kan. – Alice 102.1 is throwing a one-day turkey drive called Save Thanksgiving as a way to help feed thousands of needy families in Kansas City this holiday. And to sweeten the deal for the donors, Blue Bell Ice Cream will give a pint of ice cream to anyone who donates a turkey to the Alice 102 – Salvation Army Save Thanksgiving Turkey Drive.
The one-day event will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25 at the Price Chopper at 175 N. Parker in Olathe. For more information, please visit the radio station’s website at www.alice102.com.
Donors may do their holiday shopping, select the turkey and make the donation following checkout to receive their ice cream at the Save Thanksgiving tables set up at the front of the store. A selection of ice cream flavors from which to choose will be available in a freezer at the front of the store.
“This has been a very special event for me personally,” said Bryan Truta, morning show DJ and founder of Save Thanksgiving. “We’re proud to be able to get out into the community and help those who are less fortunate in a fun and enthusiastic way.”
Last year, the station collected 226 turkeys as well as almost $1,000 in cash to help “Save Thanksgiving” for local families who otherwise might go without. In addition to the ice cream, donors may register to win other prizes from Alice 102.1 including a trip to Las Vegas and tickets to local concerts and shows. Look for signage or the Blue Bell Ice Cream truck and the Salvation Army truck parked at the front of the grocery store.
