Kansas City, MO (May 15, 2014) – Nearly a week after a tornado struck the small town of Orrick, Missouri, The Salvation Army continues to provide essential aid to residents directly impacted by the disaster.

As of today, Salvation Army caseworkers have offered financial assistance to 261 people, providing nearly $10,000 in aid to help individuals obtain immediate necessities, including clothing, food, personal care items and medicine. The organization will continue to offer on-site assistance until further notice at the Orrick Christian Church, 401 E. South Front Street between 9 am and 6 pm.

Over the past five days, The Salvation Army has also provided more than 1,500 meals, 1,300 drinks and 1,900 snacks to residents and others assisting with clean-up operations in the community.

Kansas City, MO (May 13, 2014) - The Salvation Army remains on the scene in Orrick, Missouri, providing assistance and support to residents as they recover from a tornado that devastated much of the town May 10.

A Salvation Army mobile feeding unit (canteen), staffed by two volunteers, is providing food, snacks and beverages to residents and others assisting with the clean-up operations. Since Saturday night, The Salvation Army has served more than 1,060 meals, 1,300 drinks and 750 snacks to the community.

The Salvation Army also opened a social services center to provide financial assistance to residents impacted by the tornado. On the first day, 72 individuals received aid for immediate needs such as food, personal care items, clothing and medicine. Beginning Wednesday, May 14, the social services center will be located at the Orrick Christian Church, 401 E. South Front. The hours will be 9 am to 6 pm.

The Salvation Army Opens Social Services Center
For Tornado Survivors in Orrick, Missouri

Kansas City, MO (May 12, 2014) The Salvation Army is opening a social services center today to provide financial assistance to residents of Orrick, Missouri in the aftermath of Saturday’s tornado.

The center is located at the Orrick Lion’s Club and will be open from 1 pm-6 pm Monday and 9 am to 6 pm Tuesday. Social workers will be on hand to provide vouchers and other assistance to residents for immediate needs such as food, clothing, personal care items and medicine.

A Salvation Army mobile feeding unit (canteen), staffed by two volunteers, is also providing meals, snacks and beverages to residents and volunteers assisting with the clean-up operations. The canteen is located on South Front Street. Since Saturday evening, The Salvation Army canteen has served over 320 people.

Saturday’s tornado, estimated to be an F2, damaged or destroyed 80% of the homes and buildings in the town of Orrick. No one was seriously injured.

A Salvation Army mobile feeding unit (canteen), staffed by two volunteers, is providing food, snacks and beverages to residents, first responders and others assisting with the clean-up operations. The canteen is stationed at the Sinclair Service Station in Orrick. Last night, The Salvation Army canteen served 60 people.

The Salvation Army is also opening a social services center Monday at the Orrick Lion’s club to provide assistance to residents impacted by the tornado. The center will be open from 1 pm-6 pm Monday and 9 am to 6 pm Tuesday.

The Salvation Army Provides Aid to Orrick, Missouri in the Aftermath of Saturday’s Tornado

Kansas City, MO (May 10, 2014)- The Salvation Army is on the scene in Orrick, Missouri this evening, providing assistance to first responders and residents in the aftermath of a tornado that struck the community several hours ago. Three emergency disaster services (EDS) volunteers arrived within a few hours of the disaster with a mobile feeding unit (canteen). They are roaming through impacted neighborhoods, offering food and drinks as well as comfort to first responders, volunteers and residents impacted by the twister, which left widespread damage throughout the small Ray County town.
