The Salvation Army and Hungry Families in Kansas City

Kansas City, MO – Celebrate CoCo Key Water Resort’s 4th birthday Thursday, May 24 and help a good cause at the same time!

Today from 4 pm until 9 pm, CoCo Key and his favorite mascot friends will be at CoCo Key Water Resort, 9103 E. 39th Street in Kansas City, MO. Anyone who brings in 12 boxes of macaroni and cheese will receive a discount admission for only $4 (tax not included). The macaroni and cheese will be donated to The Salvation Army, which has eight food pantries in the Kansas City metropolitan area that serve hundreds of families each week.

The following mascots have been confirmed to appear at today’s CoCo Key 4th Birthday Party: Jay and Baby Jay from the University of Kansas, Chick Fil A’s Cow, Ollie the Otter from Paradise Park, Marty the Monkey from K-Love Radio, Reggie the Roadrunner from the Topeka Roadrunners hockey team, Squeaky the Mouse from Squeaky Carwash and The Salvation Army’s Kaptain Kettle.

In addition to this special promotion Thursday, CoCo Key will offer half-price admission tickets Friday, May 25 through Thursday, May 31 to customers who bring in 12 boxes of macaroni and cheese. There is a limit of four discounted admission tickets per family and the tickets are good for same day use only.

CoCo Key has been collecting food donations all month long during Mega Difference May, to help The Salvation Army feed hungry families in Kansas City. All metro HyVee stores are partnering with CoCo Key and The Salvation Army on this important food drive.

From May 3 to May 31, CoCo Key patrons who bring in a donation of food for The Salvation Army will receive a discounted admission to the water park. There is a limit of four discounted admission tickets per family and the tickets are good for same day use only.

A different food need will be highlighted each week of the promotion. Hy-Vee at 40 Highway and Noland Road is the grocery store partner for this event and will have in-store shelf labels directing customers to the food items each week.

May 3-6:              2 jars of peanut butter (16 oz)           $3 off entry fee (Promotion over)
May 10-13:          3 cans of meat (4 oz)             ;;;;              $4 off entry fee (Promotion over)
May 17-20:          4 cans of fruit (15 oz)                          $5 off entry fee (Promotion over)
May 25-31:        12 boxes of macaroni & cheese            50% off entry fee

“Food is the number one need for the families who turn to us for help during the summertime,” said Major Charles Smith. “The number of people needing food assistance always rises during the summer when kids are out of school and not receiving free or reduced price breakfasts and lunches. ”
