You Made Their Christmas Bright
Things were going pretty well for Glen and Diana and their girls. They were making ends meet, and the family was looking forward to Glen’s Christmas bonus.
Then came the day Glen was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery after his appendix ruptured. The surgery went well, and after a week, he returned home. The very next day, though, he suffered a complication. He spent two weeks in the hospital.
As Diana tells it, “His doctor said this was very unusual — he told Glen that he just had downright bad luck. And when it happened, he didn’t have any medical insurance.”
Soon, the bills began to pile up — medical bills, utility bills … plus the cost of groceries and other everyday items. Even worse, Glen couldn’t return to work, so he didn’t receive his bonus.
It looked like the family would be facing a rough road ahead, and the girls wouldn’t have much of a Christmas.
But then Diana walked into The Salvation Army.
Thanks to your support, The Salvation Army was able to help. Each of the girls received gifts and clothes. Two-year-old Mallory also received a little coat, which she loved wearing.
That wasn’t all. “We got help with food to make a complete Christmas dinner!” Diana says. “Without this, I don’t know what we would have done.”
As Glen continues to recover, the family still struggles. But they are thankful that friends like you answered their Christmas prayer.
“I’m very, very grateful,” Glen says. “They helped out so much, and the kids had a wonderful Christmas.”
Thanks to your faithful support, we’re there for your neighbors when times are tough. Your gifts make a real difference. Thank you so much!
