September is Nation Preparedness Month

No one expects a disaster to occur.  But they can happen to anyone, at any time.

September is National Preparedness Month.  It’s never possible to be 100% prepared for any possible disaster, but it makes sense to have an emergency plan in place in the event the worst happens.

Please go to for important tips on creating an emergency plan.  As you’ll see in the video below “winging it” is not a plan!

And remember, whenever disaster strikes, The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services teams are at the ready. Whether it is a devastating house fire, a life-shattering tornado, a natural gas explosion, or months of flooding, the familiar sight of a Salvation Army mobile feeding canteen is on the scene within moments after the call comes in and our teams are on the scene, helping communities and families recover and rebuild, weeks, months and sometimes years after the disaster.
