The Salvation Army provides several substance abuse services and programs all designed with providing a comprehensive rehabilitation process. The following includes both counseling and housing programs, in and around the Kansas City Metro area.

Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC)

This residential program assists up to 130 men, with treatable handicaps, drug dependence, alcohol addiction or other problems, at one time. Residents receive addiction counseling and are taught skills and given responsibilities that will help them return to community living. This self-supported program is funded by Salvation Army Thrift Stores, located around the Kansas City area. The ARC is responsible for the daily operations of these stores, providing pick-up service, sorting and refurbishing of goods and sometimes manning the counters. All funds generated by the stores are put directly back into the program.
Harbor Light Village Addiction Recovery Services

This facility, which opened in early 2008, offers a wide variety of services including social (non-medical) detoxification for both men and women, intermediate treatment featuring a structured live-in environment for alcohol/drug dependent men, and reintegration, a 24-hour residential living environment aimed at moving clients toward adjusting back into society. Additionally, transitional housing is offered to homeless veterans dealing with addiction issues. An out-patient program offers group therapy geared toward the education and understanding of substance abuse.

This comprehensive detoxification program for men and women provides alcohol and drug detoxification, consulting for two to five days and then assistance into a treatment program. Additional services include hospital respite for the homeless, drug court services and transitional housing.
